Grant browser access first

Browsers require explicit microphone permission before a page can read live audio input. If access was blocked earlier, reopen the permission prompt from the address bar and try again.

Know the limits of the result

This page measures the audio signal received by the browser tab. It does not measure end-to-end microphone latency, certify audio quality, or replace recording software diagnostics.

Low level or clipping?

Keep your normal mouth-to-mic distance and change gain in small steps. If the level never rises, increase input gain or choose a different device. If clipping appears, lower boost and test again.

- Browser microphone permission status. - Live signal level and peak tracking. - Device switching between available audio inputs. - A basic warning when the waveform appears clipped.
Current level shows how strong the live input is right now. Peak level helps you see whether brief spikes happened. “Possible clipping” means the waveform may be hitting the top of the browser-visible range, which usually points to too much gain or boost.
Q: Does this page measure microphone latency? A: No. It shows signal received by the browser, not end-to-end timing. Q: Why do I see 0% even after permission is granted? A: Check the selected device, hardware mute, OS privacy controls, and input gain. Q: Can this detect all noise problems? A: No. It can only show that signal is present, quiet, loud, or possibly clipped. Q: Is any audio uploaded? A: No. Processing stays in your browser tab.
