A dedicated test for productivity mice

Many Logitech MX-series and other office mice provide a thumb wheel or a tilting main wheel. This page separates horizontal Delta X input from ordinary vertical scrolling so the direction is easier to verify.

How to test

  • Place the pointer inside the test area.
  • Rotate the thumb wheel or tilt the main wheel left and right.
  • Confirm that the left and right arrows and counters respond independently.

Compatible hardware

Designed for mice with a thumb wheel, tilt wheel, or driver-generated horizontal scrolling. Examples include productivity mice from Logitech, Microsoft, Dell, HP, and similar brands. Browser and driver settings can affect the reported direction.

Horizontal scrolling notes

Why is no horizontal event detected?

Check the mouse driver and button assignment first. Some utilities convert the side wheel into keyboard shortcuts instead of a browser wheel event.

Can Shift plus the normal wheel be tested?

Some browsers and operating systems translate Shift plus vertical scrolling into horizontal scrolling, so the Delta X counter may respond.
